If I had to do the picture again, it would have the whole ramp or a closeup of the dog.

Interesting. I like this one of the three options you gave. The dog & flap are both dark, making a closeup hard and the front on shot would miss out on classic details like the cobbled together fence.
Yeah, I can see your point. Jane said that I should have overexposed the shot to get the details on the dog,a better camera would do.
